James gained a wide range of experience in account services, advertising design, and graphic art production while working as a graphic designer at Omega Advertising, in Livingston NY, in 1984. James created effective, high-profile advertising campaigns for institutional, industrial, and retail clientele: Green County Community College, Lorbrook Manufacturing, Sound Odyssey Audio, Orens' Furniture, and Scholet Furniture.

James went on to start up Icon Graphic Design, where he developed identity and advertising campaigns for clients including: The Michaels Group, VLG Real Estate, Partners Meany Advertising Agency, Rueckert & Shanley Advertising Agency, Newkirk Products Financial Publishers, GE Silicones, Freihofer Baking Company, and Sugarbush Ski resort.

At Jardine Group Services Corporation James designed effective, targeted, highly-personalized mailings marketing insurance programs to trade unions and professional associations in cluding CSEA, PEF, Council 82,and The New York Nurses Association.

As production manager for Rensselaer Polytechnic Institutes' Lighting Research Center (LRC), James held increasingly responsible leadership positions spearheading LRC communication programs, Website and publications. James provided art direction and managed production for "Lighting Pattern Book for Homes" published by McGraw Hill, James designed corporate identity and graphic standards for the LRC and it's programs, created the first web-based publications, and managed the conversion of all LRC publications to electronic media.

As creative designer at GlobalSpec: Online Publisher and Specialized Search Engine, on the Marketing Services team, James provides support and creative input on website design initiatives for the Engineering Search Engine. James has created a sales presentation Website, GlobalSpec's media kit, CR4:The Engineer's Place for News and Discussion - an online community Web site for engineers, MemberLink: a portal for GlobalSpec clients for managing their media campaigns, and all web and print marketing materials for GlobalSpec E-events: online, interactive conferences / trade shows featuring latest news and industry trends. Created Marketing Maven the industrial marketing blog, LinkedIn Group and Twitter account. Created social media sites on Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn for GlobalSpec. James has earned four leadership awards for his work at GlobalSpec recognizing his abilities to lead cross functional teams.

James has received numerous awards for his work including GlobalSpec Leadership Awards: 2009, 2008, 2007, 2006; CR4: The Engineers' online community Website was awarded "10 Great Media Sites" by BtoB Business Magazine. His work in technical communications earned top honors at the international level of the publications competition of the Society for Technical Communication.

His ability to motivate creative and production teams, balance creativity with technical know-how, vendor negotiations, create workflow procedures, asset management solutions, and establish quality benchmarks, has earned James a reputation as a quality driven leader, with an eye for efficiencies and cost saving measures.
